Code of Conduct

Grinnell College is committed to establishing and maintaining a safe and nondiscriminatory educational and working environment for all College community members. General

Rules are subject to change at any time. Decisions by the Pioneer Weekend team or the Wilson Center are final.

Participation

Participation is only open to Grinnell College students. No alumni. Participation is closed to family members of judges.

Teams

  • Teams must consist of 3-5 students. Teams must submit a list of members upon submitting their idea by the Team Registration deadline listed on the schedule. Any modifications after that must be approved by organizers.
  • It is mandatory for at least one team member to be present for each scheduled mentor meeting; it doesn’t have to be the same team member at each meeting.
  • All team members must participate in the pitch presentation to be eligible for receiving a prize.

Judging Criteria

Teams’ pitches will be judged on several criteria including customer validation, business model, design, product execution, and creativity. More details about the judging process will be provided closer to the event. Teams will not be told their scores during or after judging, and decisions by the judges and Pioneer Weekend team are final.

Winners

Winners for Pioneer Weekend prizes will be selected by the Pioneer Weekend judges. Each winning team will be responsible for working with the Pioneer Weekend team and the Wilson Center to arrange for the payment to be sent. The winning team is responsible for all taxes associated with prizes.
